I honestly hate to say that ‘I Live for the weekend’ but this week I certainly did… a long week of work and humidity! This heat takes a lot of getting used to but it does beat being wrapped up in layers of clothes during the snow in the winter.
With there being so much to always do in the city, it’s also nice to get out of the noisy streets and go to the beach (even if the nearest beach is around an hour away) I try to go one day at the weekend if the weathers nice. My favourite beaches that I’ve been to are Rockaway beach and Coney Island, both are pretty easy to get there… just take the A/C train to Rockaway or the bus and the N/Q/F train to Coney Island to the last stop.
It’s a long way from any southern Irish beaches that I would usually be used to at home;)
I know I can’t believe I was wearing all black (bodysuit & shorts from Topshop) in the heat either, I guess I’ll never learn!

Today marks my 6th Month in New York City!! I can’t believe how the time has flown and how much I’ve experienced, in what feels to me a short period of time…
I have learned so much from this amazing city and even with all the nice images you see, behind that was a lot of ups and downs and worry if I would even last here… it certainly thought me that not everything comes easy and there is a hundred other people who want the same job, apartment, etc but you have to work hard! I would have never thought that I would have experienced what I have so far in this city… Literally anything can happen here!!
From meeting people here who knows a mutual friend at home to meeting random celebrities (Dr.Spencer Reid from Criminal Minds- I’m obsessed!) (Which can be seen over on my Instagram)
… If your given an opportunity, take it! You just never know where it could lead you or what connections could be made…
Even if this city makes you broke, because it certainly does, there’s always something, from an iced coffee to bottomless brunch;) I still never regret it
… I honestly was never a coffee person before coming here and now I know why everyone drinks it, it’s really a necessity!
…I’ve experienced all four seasons in my last 6months, from feet of snow (which I am certainly not used to), to rain, to sweaty humid heat in the summer:)
I never knew what I would think about living here when I was planning it all those months ago but I really wouldn’t change a thing, it’s my NYC Adventure*
Since arriving in New York, I have certainly seen a lot of changes in the weather! It was a chilly start to February and I finally gave in a bought a pair of winter boots… okay so they are not exactly the proper snow boots but they are waterproof and that will have to do because I just couldn’t give in to some of those ‘ugly’ snow boots so if the snow comes round again I’ll be layering back on the socks!Haha
So finally, this last weekend, the weather was nice and warm and it was the first day in a long time that it wasn’t freezing so I took advantage of the higher temperatures and went to explore Dumbo (Down Under Manhattan Bridge Overpass) … I could actually get out without my big winter coat on, which is always great seeing as I sometimes felt like it was all I was wearing at one stage!
At the weekend, I always love to venture out of the busy city, so I mostly end up along the High Line or Central Park and Dumbo will for sure, be added to that list. It reminds me of a cute seaside town, it’s so nice to walk around without hearing noisy car horns, alarms or not so nice smells and instead smelling fresh sea air, stone-oven cooked pizzas(there was some waiting in line, involved) and of course ending the day with yummy chocolate crepes.
I wore; my blue blazer from H&M, my favourite Coated Jamie Jeans from Topshop and also my chocker, which I think is one of my favourite (easy to diy) accessories. I love being able to change up outfits with just some different accessories… my new New boots are from Steve Madden …I’ve just noticed (unlucky for me!) that they’ve gone into sale… So happy shopping;)
Hope your having a great week so far!
Recently I visited the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC.
Trying to find cheap/free things to do in New York is hard and so with a small donation towards the museum, your able to view the whole museum! Although there is just so much to be seen, I only got to see the ‘Masterworks:Unpacking Fashion’ at the Costume Institute of the museum, which is only there until February 5th, until a new collection takes over… but I will definitely be back again to see more of the museum.
The collections in the museum change around yearly and I will be back again for the newest collection!
I was literally silent as I viewed this collection as I was in awe and so fascinated by every piece I seen, as some had been worn by famous celebrities and others that have made it in history for the unique pieces.
Most of this collection covers the 19th to 21st century and it was stated that a number of the pieces by the designers, were donated, in honour of Harold Koda, who retired as curator in charge of The Costume Institute last year.
The opening of the collection, stands a beautiful dress by Viktor & Rolf.
Hard to believe that Lady Gaga actually wore some of these shoes!!
Proudly, one of the only hats on show in this collection was by Irish designer Philip Treacy… I did stare at this masterpiece for quiet a while, amazed of the exquisite detail of the ‘Paphiopedilum Philipinese Orchid Hat’.
I would happily wear this last piece, it was certainly my favourite;)
